Credit note for insurance job

To post a credit note for an insurance job you need to post the whole amount of the credit note including the excess to the insurance company.

  • Click Workshop
  • Click Credit Notes
Once this has been posted you need to do a contra from the Insurance account to the customer account.
  • Click Sales Ledger
  • Click Post Receipts
  • Enter the insurance Company Code first 
  • Enter the excess amount as a negative value
  • Enter the Customer Account Code

NB: If the customer account is CASHR you will need to change the account type to manual while posting the contra and then change it back to cash afterwards..


The transactions on the sales ledger accounts will show as below.


Customer Account

Invoice £100.00 paid

Payment £100.00cr paid

Contra £100.00-


Insurance Account

Invoice £111.50

Credit note £211.50

Contra £100.00


When the invoice is redone using CASHR the excess will pay off again so you will need to post a refund to the account for this amount.
